Decorating With Christmas Past Treasures

Since we're not able to decorate Pinehurst Cottage this year...I'll show you how I've decorated our home's front entrance.  I decorate very traditionally outside and inside.  I use Christmas treasures from my past that brings back Christmas memories spent with my mom and dad.  I'm blessed to have such loving memories.  I stuff containers with fresh pines and I scatter pine cones.   I accessorize with red.  The only thing I spent money on was the garland.  All of the fresh greens were cut down from our property.  I reuse the wire vase hanging on the door through out the year and add seasonal flowers to it.  The sled was our sled growing up.  My siblings and I had some good times on that old sled.  The planter with the fresh greens in it was brought years ago in Vermont during a family trip.  The birch logs in it were saved by my husband.  He and his father cut those many years ago before his dad passed away.  Happy decorating!

I have sled on my porch too but I'll have to spruce it up with some greens. Your sled and wire container of greens look fabulous. I'm following your blog. The man who built your cottage sounds very interesting. It sounds like a great project!

And when I opened the Card and saw that it was all from you dear friend I was touched... a gift for no reason... A very Merry Christmas to you beautiful one...may all your wishes come true. Very inviting Amy! I have a vintage sleigh, but oh fabulous to have the one you rode as a child. Growing up I lived at the bottom of a double hill. They would close the road off at the top and the bottom. If you got going fast enough you could make it down both hills. We would spend hours out there. For some reason we always wore sock on our hands for gloves. I remember coming in and just bawling because my hands and toes were so frozen. You are so lucky to have a cottage in N.C. Hubby and I visited a few years ago and loved it. Now following you.
Hugs,
Jann

Great that you are using the old sleigh for your main attraction at the front door -- so much history and such a special treasure! It all looks beautiful. Those pinecones are HUGE!
